Bre8the smart breathalyzer wants to go beyond alcohol detection

Bre8the is a novel biomarker device raising funds and awareness at crowdfunding website Indiegogo; it analyzes various biological output in a discreet way and sends data via Bluetooth to the user’s smartphone.

“A biomarker is a characteristic that is objectively measured and evaluated as an indicator of normal biological processes, pathogenic processes or pharmacological responses,” the products Indiegogo page says.

Bre8the processes specific data retrieved from breath and analyzes that to graphically produce user friendly information on an accompanying smartphone app, which will be available for iOS and Android.

The device is created to emulate a modern executive pen; it is as sleek and stylish as it is functional, and is equipped with industry grade alcohol sensor that has been widely recognized for its sensitivity and accuracy. The pen-like shape allows for streamline usability that can form fitted in future generations of the device to have probes or health care data readability.

Bre8the could eventually be able to analyze various other biological information, such as cannabis detection, breathprinting and cancer detection.The current version of the application shows specific breathe data acquired from the device and assigns recognizable readings that assist towards a decision-making process. It also displays links to taxi services, restaurants, hotel room booking options and emergency contacts.

The company is in initial stages of research to blend other forms of human output data that can be used to analyze various other biological information, including cannabis detection, breathprinting and cancer detection.

Bre8the is looking to raise $25,000 on Indiegogo; a single unit goes for $40.
