Walgreens' mobile app gets MDLIVE-powered virtual doctor visits

The U.S. largest drugstore chain Walgreens is updating its iOS and Android mobile apps with virtual doctor visits service from MDLIVE.

The new feature provides users with 24/7 access to U.S. board-certified doctors while on the go.

Initially, the service is available to users in California and Michigan, with additional states and markets coming at a later date.

“We’re delighted to work with MDLIVE to provide our patients with a leading telehealth solution that will allow them to conveniently address their health conditions and needs with a medical professional,” said Dr. Harry Leider, chief medical officer, Walgreens.

The new telehealth capability builds on top of the Pharmacy Chat feature Walgreens launched last year to allow users to chat live with members of its pharmacy staff.
