ADAMM makes it easier to manage asthma

ADAMM (Automated Device for Asthma Monitoring and Management) is a novel wearable device/system that makes it easy to manage asthma.

A product of Health Care Originals, it works with an accompanying mobile app and online portal to detect coughs, monitor respiration and heart rate, and listen for wheezing to provide alerts of impending asthma attacks. The online component allows users to access their or their loved one’s daily status and trend symptoms from anywhere.

The online component allows users to access their or their loved one’s daily status and trend symptoms from anywhere.Loved one’s and doctors can also receive alerts and even provide treatment plans from a remote location. All data that is gathered by the sensor and captured by the app is kept in a HIPAA-compliant storage, with Apple HealthKit integration planned for later this year.

Availability wise, the ADAMM is expected to hit the market during the second quarter of 2015, and we’re hoping that some smart insurer will be quick to adopt it and offer it to its clients.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, asthma affects over 25 million adults and children in the US alone, and is responsible for 14.2 million physician visits each year as well as 1.8 million emergency care visits.
