myBrain Melomind helmet-like wearable is made to relax users

myBrain Melomind

myBrain was one of the companies that impressed many at CES 2015. Their Melomind is a helmet-like wearable with electrodes on each of the four spikes that protrude from the core device. These electrodes measure user’s brain waves like a standard electroencephalogram (EEG), and transmit data on brain activity to the connected app. Said application — which will be released for Android, iOS and Windows Phone devices — then uses the information gathered by sensors to determine which of its custom-created musical tones to play to help Melomind wearer relax. This music is played through separate headphones connected to the smartphone or tablet.

The Melomind is now up for pre-order for $299.Those who had a chance to try out the device, such as CNet‘s Anthony Domanico, like it, even adding that it was “fairly comfortable to wear” while the accompanying music is described as “pretty relaxing.”

The smartphone app on its end visualizes user’s results and progress over time, making it easy to keep track of how relaxed you’re getting.

The Melomind is expected to be released in select US and European market by the end of this year, though interested users can already pre-order the device for $299.
