BlueMaestro’s Pacif-i is a smart pacifier that helps parents keep better track of their kids’ health.
Made for infants and toddlers, the device will not only keep babies from crying, but will also measure their temperature, transmitting that data to a connected app for Android or iPhone using Bluetooth LE. Said application allows other capabilities as well, allowing parents to add medication information such as type, dosage and when the medication was last given. There’s also the ability to locate the Pacif-i from within the app, making sure it doesn’t get easily lost.
The Pacif-i will cost $40/£25/AU$47, and at the moment it’s up for pre-order.According to those who had a first-hand experience with this gadget, it feels as comfortable as regular pacifiers with underlying technology doesn’t standing on the way but helping a child co-operate (with temperature measurements).
BlueMaestro hopes to release the Pacif-i across Europe once it’s gotten the European Medical Device Class IIa license, which is expected in February 2015. Then, they plan to get the same regulatory approvals to launch in the United States, Australia and other locations.
