We don’t get to read about app recalls, but today we have one such news story to share.
AliveCor has recalled its AliveECG app 2.1.2 due to the app crashing issues that affected some 5,600 iOS users, according to a FDA recall notice.
The application was made to sing along FDA-cleared AliveCor Heart Monitor that provides accurate electrocardiogram (ECGs), and can detect the presence of atrial fibrillation and normal sinus rhythm, when prescribed or used under the care of a physician.
AliveCor has made the public aware of the situation, having shared the news on its website, Facebook Page and Twitter. FDA on its end identified the case as a Class III recall which is described as a situation in which “use of or exposure to a violative product is not likely to cause adverse health consequences.”
Nevertheless we applaud AliveCor for clearing this out and even admitting its mistake. Moreover, we’re glad to learn that an updated version (2.1.3) of the application is already available for download through iTunes.
