Mediq-Care’s Smart Cane rocks sensors, “panic” button

Smart Cane

A cane is about to get its smart equivalent if this Kickstarter project manages to reach the funding goal of $100,000.

The device — if we can call it a “device” — comes with a few built-in sensors, and can connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth to provide few handy features. For example, it will constantly monitor the owners temperature and heart rate, and beam that information to the accompanying mobile app.

Designed by the company called Mediq-care, the cane also has a dedicated panic button, pressing on which a message will be sent to a doctor or caretaker. The same will be done if the cane falls down and is left lying on the ground for five minutes with no input.

Finally, there’s also a built-in flashlight for those moment when the wearer is left in the dark.

Right now, Mediq-care is far from reaching its funding goal; you can help if you want. 😉
