Developer of smartphone-based communication tools for nurses and other hospital caregivers Voalte has raised $10 million, according to an SEC filing, bringing the company’s total funding to at least $52 million. Said filing also notes that Voalte plans to raise another $7 million.

The Sarasota, Florida-based company makes mobile communication tools that healthcare providers connect with one another to better coordinate care. Voalte’s tools allow users to make voice calls, send texts, manage apps, and check if other providers are busy or available.

Voalte has recently announced that 155-bed Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital based in Plymouth, Massachusetts has decided to replace its provider communication system with Voalte’s offering.

Some of Voalte’s other customers include UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay, Massachusetts General Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital, Hardin Memorial Hospital, Walnut Hill Medical Center and Nebraska Medical Center, while its developmental partners include Cedars-Sinai, Sarasota Memorial Health Care System and Huntington Medical Center.

The company has about 50,000 clinician users on its platform each day – up from the 35,000 users it announced in February 2014.
