Microsoft released the full software development kit (SDK) for the Microsoft Health app, allowing developers to create apps for the Microsoft Band wearable.
A preview SDK had been available before, but it provided only a limited access to the Band’s sensors.
Developers can now create tiles for the Band’s interface, and send notifications from companion mobile apps. They [developers] will also be able to access all of the features the Band has to offer, including the heart rate, ultraviolet light, accelerometer, gyroscope and skin temperature sensors, while being able to sync the data collected with the Microsoft Health platform.
Apps created this way may work across mobile platforms, including iOS, Android and Windows Phone. They will, however, be subject to the standard app review processes used by the respective app stores, Microsoft says.
