Samsung ranks highest among manufacturers of fitness band devices, according to the J.D. Power 2015 Fitness Band Device Satisfaction Report. The Korean giant’s products perform particularly well in styling and appearance, variety of features, battery life and durability.
J.D. Power’s inaugural report examined satisfaction in nine factors (listed in order of importance): reliability; price/value; ease of use; variety of features; comfort; battery life; durability; styling and appearance; and availability of apps. Satisfaction is calculated on a 1,000-point scale.
“It is important that device manufacturers focus on offering a product that is reliable at a price that is perceived as good value based on its features,” said Kirk Parsons, senior director and telecom, media & technology practice leader at J.D. Power. “Those that do so early in the game may improve their opportunity to increase satisfaction, customer loyalty and repurchase intention.”
Samsung scored 860 points, and was followed by Fitbit (839), which performed well in four factors: reliability; ease of use; durability; and availability of apps. Overall customer satisfaction with fitness band devices across all brands is 839.
The 2015 Fitness Band Device Satisfaction Report was fielded in May 2015 and is based on responses from 2,007 customers who purchased a new fitness band tracker, fitness band tracker with smart features or a smartwatch device within the past 12 months.
