Clinton wants to expand Medicare reimbursement for telemedicine

Hillary Clinton

Unlike Republican presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton doesn’t want to repeal Obamacare. In fact, she wants to widen Medicare reimbursement for telemedicine and solve the interstate licensure issue that has held back telemedicine.

Speaking at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, Iowa, she noted how it’s difficult for families in rural America to find quality, affordable healthcare. What’s more, the state has seen many rural hospitals closing, and telemedicine could prove as a viable alternative.

“Here in Iowa, you just won an important victory, stopping efforts to prevent Planned Parenthood from providing telemedicine services to women who might not be able to make it to a larger city,” Clinton said. “Thousands of women in Iowa have used these services in recent years. This shouldn’t have to be said, but how can anyone be advocating for denying women access to healthcare?”

We’re not going to delve into the morality debate on abortion, but to support Clinton’s initiative to push telehealth to the places where it wasn’t before, making affordable care available to more Americans, all while driving the entire industry forward.
