Smart Froc high chair for toddlers lets parents monitor their child’s weight

Froc - smart chair for toddlers

The adjustable wooden high chair for toddlers Smart Froc will not only provide stable and safe seating for children aged 6 months to 10 years, but also allow parents to seamlessly monitor their children’s weight.

Designed by a team based in Slovenia, Smart Froc is touted as the world’s first smart highchair, boasting weight sensors under the seat. These sensors communicate with a companion mobile app to allow parents to easily monitor their child’s weight and progress simply by checking their smartphone.

The built-in weight sensor communicates with a companion mobile app to allow parents to easily monitor their child’s weight and progress simply by checking their smartphone.“As a father of two, I got the idea for the Froc high chair with integrated scales from my own experience and the experiences of my friends,” explains the leader of the team who developed Froc and CEO of Froc Matej Košir. “Weighing a child in the first months of their lives is important, but fairly difficult, since toddlers are usually too light for normal scales and only rarely stand still… The purchase of special scales is hence a financial burden as well as extra ‘junk’ in the apartment.”

For technical aspect of the smart chair, the chair designers teamed up with MakerLab, a young team of tech enthusiasts from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana. The end product is now live on crowdfunding website Kickstarter where the team is looking to raise $55,000 in pre-orders. Check it out.
