This smart pillbox is made for the whole family

dr Poket PillBox

The dr Poket PillBox is a new smart device that makes sure patients regularly get their medications. A product of a Gdansk, Poland-based startup, the device is in the midst of a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter from where it could be pre-ordered for $199.

The dr Poket can take a number of different medications, and support the whole family — instead of just one person — with its replaceable pill dispensers. It features a single screen, control panel and a Braille indicator for the visually impaired. To the sides are the mentioned modules where the pills are kept and dispensed one-by-one. So, if a person needs three pills a day, each module will take care of a pill so you only get what you need and at the perfect time. Visual and sound notifications on the device come included as well.

The dr Poket Pillbox features a single screen, control panel and a Braille indicator for the visually impaired.Beyond the device itself, dr Poket is developing a cloud-based platform using which medication adherence can be monitored and managed by patients, their family and/or care givers. Over time, the platform creates medication history for the patient that can be shared with new doctors, if needed. Also, the system will send alerts on missed doses.

With every new prescription, the medicine name should be scanned using the barcode and dosage instructions. Said cloud service will recognize the drug, and inform the patient about the drug’s possible interaction with alcohol, pregnancy warnings or interaction with other drugs on the program.

The dr Poket PillBox is set to ship in July 2016.
