Lumo Bodytech, the company behind the Lumo Lift device that helps users with their posture, announced a smart garment that will provide runners with real-time feedback on their performance. Called Lumo Run, these running shorts feature a 9-axis smart sensor you would typically find in an activity tracker to monitor and alert users on their running form.
Thanks to the virtually invisible sensor, Lumo Run will measure runner’s cadence, stride length, ground-contact time, and pelvic rotation, among other things. On the other hand, the companion app will provide real-time audio feedback on performance.
Thanks to the virtually invisible sensor, Lumo Run will measure runner’s cadence, stride length, ground-contact time, and pelvic rotation, among other things.“There currently isn’t an option for self-motivated runners to easily and affordably track their running efficiency and performance.” said Monisha Perkash, CEO of Lumo Bodytech. “Lumo Run can support runners when a coach is not present to help push them to the next level. Or it can be used with a coach to guide training.”
Lumo Run was created in collaboration with leading sports biomechanics experts at Loughborough University in the UK. Their state-of-the-art biomechanics research has created new knowledge about running technique, identifying the key characteristics for the ideal running form.
Lumo Run shorts is now up for pre-order at the discounted price of $99 for men’s shorts, and $119 for women’s capris at Lumo Bodytech’s website. The MSRP price will be $149 for the men’s shorts, $169 for the women’s capris and they will begin shipping March 31, 2016.
