Google Fit gets instant insights, strength trainings and new integrations

Google Fit update

Google is going beyond basic step counting with the latest update to its Google Fit platform. But first, the platform’s mobile app has been updated to provide users with real-time stats for their runs, walks and rides on their phones. No longer will users be required to open a web-based interface to access this information and all of their data is now visible right from the app.

Also, for users with an Android Wear smartwatch, Google Fit can now automatically count strength trainings, adding every push-up, sit-up and squat to the general image of the user’s health.

Finally, the Google Fit app can now pull information from popular nutrition and sleep apps, such as MyFitnessPal, Fatsecret, Lifesum, LoseIt and Sleep as Android. Moreover, there are several additional device integrations, including the Xiaomi Mi Band and Mi Band 1S, Sony Smartband 2, and the Basis Peak.

When you’re able to view your overall fitness, Google says, you may just start making better choices and eventually stay fit for the holiday season.
