Xiaomi unveils the Mi Air Purifier 2 for 699 Yuan

Xiaomi, which is often referred to as “Apple of China,” unveiled — among other things — the Mi Air Purifier 2. Devices like air purifiers are common in China where pollution levels soar with the rapid development.

According to Xiaomi, 388 cubic metres an hour can be cleaned by the Mi Air Purifier 2, up from the first model’s 330 cubic metres/hour.The Mi Air Purifier 2 features a single motor, dual booster fans, and three filter layers — pre-filter, HEPA filter and activated carbon filter — that deliver an effective range of up to 39.6 m2. Compared to the original device, the second generation model is smaller and lighter, measuring 520 x 240 mm, compared to the 735 x 260 mm profile of its predecessor. It is also 11% quieter and will produce 30db noise when put in the night mode.

According to Xiaomi, 388 cubic metres an hour can be cleaned by the Mi Air Purifier 2, up from the first model’s 330 cubic metres/hour.

The new device will be sold for 699 Yuan or $105, while standard and enhanced filters will be offered for 149 Yuan ($23) and 169 Yuan ($26.5), respectively. There’s no word whether this device will ever be available outside of China, though.
