Fifty-two percent of mHealth experts rate app stores, like Apple App Store or Google Play, to be the best channels from which to distribute mHealth apps for the next five years, according to the results of research2guidance’s global report, the mHealth App Developer Economics Study 2015.
In comparison, distribution through other channels, such as via doctors, hospitals or pharmacies are increasingly seen to be weaker channels through which to distribute a successful app solution.
The situation was different just five years ago when more than 65 percent of mHealth practitioners believed that hospitals or physicians would become the main distribution channel for mHealth apps in the coming years. Today, just 48 percent of physicians and 46% of hospitals believe that to be the case.
