Circle Medical adds in-app access to medical records

Circle Medical app

Circle Medical — which is an on-demand, full service primary healthcare provider — is upgrading its service to provide patients and doctors with access to their medical records directly within the Circle Medical app.

“We believe every patient has the right to see their own medical records, in plain English, and that this is an essential component in having patients take an active role in managing their health,” said in a statement.

In order to get started, users download the app Circle Medical from iTunes or Google Play, scan their insurance card, pick a doctor and book an appointment. The Circle Medical doctor can visit them at home or at work, and perform any of the tasks that they do in a traditional doctor’s office, such as wellness exams, sick visits, blood tests and writing prescriptions. It costs no more than traditional medical office visits and the majority of leading health insurers cover the service, including Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Cigna, Healthnet, Aetna and United Healthcare.

Launched in August 2015, Circle Medical is used by more than hundred patients in San Francisco. This year, the company plans to expand to other cities.

Circle Medical has raised a $2.9 million seed round in November 2015, and chances are – it will be pursuing additional capital to reach customers in other markets.
