Silicon Valley-based Naked Labs launched what it says is the world’s first 3D fitness tracker for consumers that is now available for pre-order for $499. The body scanner includes a full-length 3D scanning (smart) mirror, a scale that doubles as a turntable, and the Naked mobile app.
“We believe the only fitness metric worth tracking is progress. With the Naked 3D Fitness Tracker, people can immediately see how and where their bodies are changing,” Farhad Farahbakhshian, CEO and co-founder of Naked Labs, said in a statement. “The Naked 3D Fitness Tracker is transformative in its ability to motivate people to achieve their health and fitness goals through visualizations of their progress on their 3D body model.”
The Naked 3D Fitness Tracker is expected to ship in March 2017.When you step on the Naked turntable, the 3D scanner is activated. The turntable, which uses Intel RealSense Technology, rotates you a full 360 degrees in 20 seconds, creating a complete 3D scan of your body. Then, the information is synced (via Bluetooth and/or WiFi) to the Naked companion app where you can immediately see the “naked truth” — yourself in 3D.
With Naked Labs’ 3D fitness tracker users will not only be able to better understand their body, but also to visualize their progress and, when needed, time-lapse their fitness journey. The device will capture user’s 3D body model and display it on an iPhone or Android-based smartphone or tablet to provide visual context to one’s health and fitness goals. Furthermore, it can extract measurements, such as body fat percentage and weight.
Size wise, the mirror measures 63″(h) x 12″ (w) x 4″ (d) and has a weight of 15 lbs (plus 10 lbs for the optional stand), while turntable measures 1.75″ x 14.5″ x 14.5″ with a weight of 10 lbs.
