Google Calendar has been updated to allow users to more easily track their New Year’s fitness goals. The app now lets users set goals such as “run 3 times a week,” from where Calendar will help them find the time and stick to it.
Also, the application will connect to Google Fit and/or Apple Health to automatically detect when you had an exercise. You will have to connect Calendar with those two (or just one) services in order for this to work, though. Once that part is done, and when you complete your training for the day, the activity will be recorded and used to mark your goals in Google Calendar as “done” automatically.
Like that’s not enough from a calendar app, you will also be able to see how you’re doing with the new visual performance tracker.
With this integration, future goal times will be even more tailored based on when you’re most likely to complete them. Say you set a goal to run at 6:30 every other morning but aren’t actually hitting your stride until 7:15 — Google Calendar has you covered and will adjust accordingly. So not only can Calendar keep track of your activities and performance, it can also help you find the best time to do them.
Pretty cool to a “basic” app like Calendar helping you exercise more often. Love it.
