Samsung S Health to get WebMD, Amwell integrations?

S Health app

Samsung is trying hard to make its S Health platform a relevant competitor to Apple’s HealthKit and Google Fit. To that end, the Korean giant has been adding new features to its mobile app in an effort to convince people to use it regularly.

Beyond fitness tracking, gamification elements and integration with a number of popular activity trackers, Samsung is working to make its platform a “real health tool.” According to SamMobile, the future update to the S Health app will include “deep integration” of services and content from WebMD and American Well.

Thanks to the first integration, users will be able to quickly search symptoms, diseases, and drugs through WebMD; and with the help of American Well, they will be able to book a virtual doctor visit right from the app.

On the other hand — should you agree — American Well doctors will be able to access all of the health data stored in S Health to provide a better diagnosis, treatment and, if needed, issue a prescription.

Another new option expected to be include in the new S Health app is insurance information that will be used to pay for telehealth services. Or, you can pay with your credit card.

The new S Health app is expected to be unveiled in the US alongside the upcoming Galaxy S8, which will be Samsung’s flagship smartphone for this year.
