Amwell launches a new smart TV carepoint device for hospitals

Intermountain Healthcare deploys over 1,200 units in nearly 50 locations, transforming hospital room TVs into telehealth endpoints.

Amwell Hospital TV 100

Telehealth company Amwell announced the continued expansion of its platform with the release of the Hospital TV 100.

Designed to further expand integrated telehealth connectivity via the Amwell platform, the new Carepoint device enables hospitals to turn existing televisions into telehealth endpoints, allowing them to scale and simplify access to their telehealth infrastructure by using devices that already exist in patient rooms.

How does it work?

The Hospital TV 100 brings providers directly into a hospital room. As health systems grapple with strained resources and the COVID-19 pandemic, the new Carepoint device helps providers to safely monitor patients, while hospitals can use their existing in-room TV investments to scale telemedicine across their entire system. Patients also benefit from connecting with entire care teams across a wide range of specialties, without needing to leave their room or have a care team member present to facilitate.

The Hospital TV 100 is readily available from Amwell.

On the record

“We believe telehealth has a powerful role to play in the democratization of healthcare, and in working towards this goal, we are building out our platform to enable the convergence of healthcare experiences across care settings, making it easier for those on the frontlines to see their patients,” said Ido Schoenberg, co-CEO and Chairman, Amwell. “This new Carepoint device demonstrates our mission to connect and enable the key players across the healthcare ecosystem to improve clinical and financial outcomes. Streamlined, integrated connectivity between patients and informed, trusted providers is central to realizing this goal.”

A word from Intermountain…

“Being able to turn our existing televisions into telehealth devices has made it easier for our care teams to see their patients,” said Brian Wayling, Assistant Vice President of Telehealth Services, Intermountain Healthcare. “At Intermountain, we now have over 1,200 Amwell TV Carepoint devices installed in almost 50 locations. The in-room smart TV and networking enable clinical teams across more than 30 specialties to provide remote care 24/7 in collaboration with the local team, and to interact with patients, family members, and caregivers right in the patient’s room-no matter the access concerns and without any extra effort.”

“Intermountain is a world class digital health leader. We are inspired by their and other providers heroic and courageous work. It is a privilege to bring to market a solution that makes it safer and easier for them to deliver care,” continued Schoenberg.
