Saudi Arabia-based health AI platform Zaina has publicly launched its Arabic-language assistant for aesthetic medicine and plastic surgery. The platform has been operating across the Kingdom and Qatar since the summer, used by thousands of people considering procedures.
Zaina helps people understand the complexity behind a decision of this kind: how approaches differ between providers, what recovery actually looks like, and which questions are worth raising in a consultation. It answers conversationally, in Arabic, and accounts for dialect variation across the Gulf. The platform explains; the user decides. Zaina exists so that the decision someone eventually makes is still theirs, only far better informed.
“In aesthetic medicine there is no referral and no insurer reviewing the decision. Someone moves from interest to consultation alone, guided mostly by material designed to persuade them,” said Eng. Fernando Rojas, Head of Health Ventures and Managing Partner GCC at The Agile Monkeys. “But a purchase ends at the counter. This one stays with you. The smartest thing anyone can do is walk into that consultation already understanding what they are asking about. Explaining something this complex, in Arabic, at whatever hour someone is thinking about it, was not possible until very recently. It is now. The model is the easy part. Making it work inside a regulated field, safely, every day, is the serious part.”
An informed user is good for clinics as well. Providers that compete on clinical quality rather than on marketing spend benefit when someone arrives already understanding the procedure, the alternatives, and the questions worth asking.
Zaina is a venture of The Agile Monkeys, a Spanish artificial intelligence engineering firm specialising in regulated industries, which builds AI products for health, retail and financial services across Europe, the United States and the Gulf.
The company said it plans to expand into Dubai in the fourth quarter.
