Denmark-based manufacturer of hearing aids and wireless audio products ReSound launched a small device that connects with the iPhone to improve one’s auditory perception. The newly announced ReSound LiNX is said to deliver the clearest sound quality of any assistive device on the market, combining the company’s own 2.4Ghz wireless chips with features found in Apple’s smartphone.
“Hearing aids have had a revolution in recent years,” says Laurel Christensen, ReSound’s Chief Audiology Officer. “And wireless technology has been the headline.”
ReSound LiNX is said to deliver the clearest sound quality of any assistive device on the market. The company initially worked with Apple in 2010 when they unveiled a number of progressive accessibility features in the iOS, and since then – Apple has gone on to bake a number of hearing aid-centric features right into the platform.
ReSound LiNX works with an accompanying app to allow users to program and make changes to the settings on their LiNX. In addition, this petite device also allows wearers to stream the audio signal directly into their ear, as if they were using wireless headphones. Moreover, ReSound also sells a small lapel microphone called Mini Mike that pairs directly with the hearing aids for the same effect.
According to Christensen, customers who tried out the LiNX, immediately gone out to purchase an iPhone, too — that’s how much of an improvement the product bears to make in a hearing impaired person’s life.
