Kolibree is the next company to enter the emerging smart toothbrush market, having recently kicked off a campaign at Kickstarter. The Bluetooth-enabled device connects to any iOS or Android device to enable feedback and gaming experiences.
The Kolibree toothbrush is described as elegant, light and can easily fit both adult and kids’ hands.Kolibree combines the advanced sensor technology to detect movements and provide an app to educate users to better brush their teeth, and motivate them to do that properly. The motivation and gamification parts come in handy with children some of whom are finding the whole teeth cleaning experience cumbersome.
The Kolibree toothbrush is described as elegant, light and can easily fit both adult and kids’ hands. Its designers claim they have thought about every part of the brush to make sure it provides the “best care and experience.” Not only is sonic technology quieter, but it’s gentler on the gums, making it a safer solution for both kids and seniors.
Alongside the device itself, the company promises to release an SDK to allow developer to chip-in and create apps that make brushing more interesting and/or rewarding. We could instantly imagine major toothpaste brands exploring this opportunity to yet again remind us on their products.
Kolibree will release an SDK to allow developer to chip-in and create apps that make brushing more interesting and/or rewarding.Meanwhile, Kolibree is working on two of its own games, one of which prompts users to clean up candy on the screen just as good as they would brush their teeth; and another in which users race a car, turning it in the right direction by moving the Kolibree toothbrush in their mouth.
Also worth noting is that the software supports multiple users on one profile, so that an entire family’s brushing habits are visible on a single smartphone (or tablet).
Kolibree is looking to raise $70,000 and is offering its product for the early bird price of $99.
