A company called Advanced Brain Monitoring is launching an Indiegogo campaign to fund its Night Shift medical device designed to treat positional snoring and sleep apnea.
Worn on the back of the neck, it is secured in place with a medical grade silicone strap and magnetic clasp. Night Shift begins to gently vibrate when you start to sleep on your back, and the vibration slowly increases in intensity until you change positions.
Night Shift also doubles as an intelligent monitor that measures sleep quality and the frequency of unhealthy loud snoring.Night Shift also doubles as an intelligent monitor that measures sleep quality and the frequency of unhealthy loud snoring. As a connected device, it feeds the data to the Report Portal, allowing users to get information about how they progress or don’t.
The underlying technology will monitor how efficiently you sleep and the degree of your sleep fragmentation, evaluate the influence of alcohol on snoring, assess the association between loud snoring and sleep quality, determine if your snoring and poor sleep quality is limited to back-sleeping, track how often you try to sleep on your back and how quickly you respond to Night Shift position therapy, and compare the effectiveness of other sleep apnea or snoring therapies with and without position therapy.
Night Shift has already been clinically proven and is said to be up to two-times more accurate than activity trackers and mobile apps.
What makes this campaign different is that Advanced Brain Monitoring is not only looking for money, but also for users’ participation in a six-month study. Backers will help the company fine-tune the software and improve it for their unique needs.
Snoring and sleep apnea not only affect your health, but they also impact your bed-partner’s happiness. A non-snorer in a marriage loses about an hour of sleep each night, while snoring is reportedly the number one medical cause for divorce.
