Bluetooth earbuds FreeWavz come with fitness monitoring capability

FreeWavz

FreeWavz is a novel fitness tracking device looking to raise money at Indiegogo. Unlike similar products that you wear around the wrist, FreeWavz comes in the form of earbuds to accomplish the same thing, while allowing you to listen to the music along the way.

Developed by ear, nose and throat surgeon Dr. Eric Hensen, these smart earphones are now up for pre-order on Kickstarter for $179, integrating pulse oximeters and three-axis accelerometer.

FreeWavz are water- and sweat-resistant headphones that can track a variety of fitness metrics such as heart rate, calories burned, distance traveled, duration of workout and oxygen saturation. The water- and sweat-resistant headphones can track a variety of fitness metrics such as heart rate, calories burned, distance traveled, duration of workout and oxygen saturation. And since they are connected to your smartphone, you’ll also get audible health stats as you run.

FreeWavz should also provide its owners with great audio quality, sporting what has been described as unique conical sound delivery mechanism wrapped in memory foam, which then projects sound up and into the ear canal. This in turn should allow the ear canal to “breath,” delivering crystal clear sound quality. The built-in battery, in case you wonder, should provide enough juice to get you going for 6-8 days.

The company behind FreeWavz is looking to raise $300,000 to put these headphones into production. The delivery date is set for December, and you still have until August 7th to secure your unit.
