Jawbone updates its app with food tracking capability

Maker of the popular UP and UP24 fitness bands Jawbone has updated its mobile app to include food tracking to the mix. UP version UP 3.2 lets users easily log their meals via its extensive food database.

The Jawbone app will also learn your favorite meals and push those suggestions to the top of the list. The best part is that this is a smart system that will know what you want to input and suggest the full name of the meal for you. This in turn makes for a less labor-intensive experience, which is always a plus in a mobile app.

For instance, when you start typing “pean” the system will suggest “peanut butter and jelly,” knowing that those two usually come in pair. Moreover, it includes time of a day to the mix to suggest meals that make for more relevant suggestions. Most of us don’t have spinach for breakfast, right?

Like that’s not enough, the app will also learn your favorite meals and push those suggestions to the top of the list.

Of course, you’ll get the calorie value and nutrition information of any given meal, with the UP app including relevant numbers in its overall health calculations. Suddenly, you’ll see how much running is required to get those two Big Macs out of your body.

The overall goal it to rely more on the UP Insight Engine that will now give you suggestions on how to improve your overall health, incorporating what you’ve eaten, how much you’ve been sleeping, as well as your workouts. Powerful stuff…
