Misfit announced its latest wearable – the $50 Misfit Flash sleep and activity wrist band. The device that looks very much like the company’s flagship Shine tracker comes with the same feature set, though there are also some difference to justify the lower price tag.
Unlike the Shine that is made out of aircraft grade aluminum, the Flash is a plastic device. It remains water-proof (30 meters) though not as much as Shine (50 meters). Instead of double-tapping to get details on your progress (or their lack of), the Flash has a physical button which seems more convenient.
Battery wise, it doesn’t need to be charged whereas the Shine does require battery replacement after several months.
Finally, similar to the Shine, the Flash will be available in a variety of colors — including black, white, lemon-lime, fuchsia, teal and Coca-Cola Red — and will work with Android, iOS, and Windows Phone devices.
Misfit said that the Flash will ship in mid-October in the United States through Best Buy, Target, Amazon and Walmart. Meanwhile, you can pre-order your unit from the company’s website.
