Garmin is adding another wearable device to its portfolio – vívosmart (veevo-smart). Just like any other smart band out there, this one also enables users to stay on track with their health and wellness goals. In addition, thanks to the built-in vibration mechanism it also doubles as a subtle alarm clock, and can notify users on stuff like incoming calls and texts, emails, calendar events and so on. Also included is a small OLED touchscreen that can display time of day, steps, distance, calories, move bar, goal countdown and more.
vívosmart syncs with the Garmin Connect Mobile app when in range of a compatible smartphone, and can also sing along the MyFitnessPal app/service.“With its activity tracking features, additional workout support including timed activities, and smart notifications vívosmart is like having a personal coach and assistant right on your wrist,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of worldwide sales. “It challenges and motivates users to stay active and create lifelong healthy habits, while keeping them connected to family, friends, work, and more.”
vívosmart syncs with the Garmin Connect Mobile app when in range of a compatible smartphone (iOS or Android), and can also sing along the MyFitnessPal app/service. It has a 5 ATM water rating and battery life of up to seven days.
Vívosmart is up for preorder exclusively at BestBuy.com, and will be available in Best Buy stores mid-September in berry, purple, blue, black, and slate in a small or large band size. It will have a suggested retail price of $169.99 and $199.99 (black or slate heart rate monitor bundle). Additional store and online availability will begin in November 2014.
Earlier fitness bands made by the GPS tracking giant include Garmin vívofit and Garmin Forerunner 15.
