Proteus Digital Health, which is best-known for its ingestible sensor pill, quietly unveiled its consumer-facing offering – Proteus Recovery. The device that comes in the shape of a biometrics monitoring patch is made to help athletes recover from a workout faster.

The Proteus Recovery is touted as the “only system that supports the 24-hour optimization of athlete recovery and daily physiologic load.” Gathering all this information should help understand an athlete’s entire day and night, and eventually help him/her make “simple yet impactful changes” to maximize the athletic performance.

The sensor-laden patch can measure a recovery score (deduced from heart rate variability during sleep), sleep duration, resting and average heart rate, energy expenditure, and subjective feedback from the athletes.
