SmartMat is turning to Indiegogo to crowdfund its responsive yoga mat, which communicates with a smartphone or tablet to send high precision sensors data to the accompanying app. From here, the application provides users with real-time feedback on their specific alignment and practice, helping users advance in their stretching exercises and relax a bit more.
SmartMat is designed to be entirely intuitive in its use, and is user-friendly for even the techno-phobe.Amy Lombardo, the company’s Community Manager says that SmartMat has the potential “to make Yoga more accessible to people who don’t live near a studio or can’t afford private lessons but still want personalized feedback, and we are confident that in the years to come, it will reach a truly global, mainstream audience.”
SmartMat is designed to be entirely intuitive in its use, and is user-friendly for even the techno-phobe. It is made to enhance the normal flow of one’s Yoga practice with options to choose the level and type of feedback received. Some folks will want maximum feedback with the “Perfect Pose” and scoring technology, while others will opt to turn these features off. “In true Yoga fashion, it’s designed to be flexible,” Lombardo added.
Right now, SmartMat is preparing for the flood of pre-orders and is in the process of scaling its manufacturing resources and infrastructure. The company hopes to break all previous records on Indiegogo; as I’m writing this, they have hit the $187,000 mark.
