AliveCor unveils third generation of its Heart Monitor device

AliveCor is launching the third generation of its Heart Monitor. The new device is not only slicker — 50% thinner and 40% lighter than its predecessor — but at $74.99, also more affordable. And it was designed in collaboration with global design firm IDEO.

The new AliveCor Heart Monitor is now up for pre-order from AliveCor’s website.Made in the U.S., and compatible with the free AliveECG mobile app, the device is now available for pre-order at store.alivecor.com. Beginning in January 2015, it will be available on Amazon and through AliveCor’s collaboration with Omron Healthcare. Shipping date is set for January 5th.

“The newest generation of the Heart Monitor confirms AliveCor’s ongoing commitment to help stop the unnecessary loss of life and healthcare costs driven by undiagnosed and under-managed heart arrhythmias that lead to potentially life-threatening conditions like strokes,” said Euan Thomson, president and chief executive officer at AliveCor.

The AliveCor Heart Monitor is intended to record, store and transfer single-channel ECG rhythms. The device also displays ECG rhythms and detects the presence of atrial fibrillation (AF). It is intended for use by healthcare professionals, patients with known or suspected heart conditions and health conscious individuals. The AliveCor Heart Monitor has not been tested and is not intended for pediatric use.
