A company called Worknosis Technologies is looking to make a dent in the activity tracking market. Rather than designing yet another wrist-worn band, they unveiled what is presumingly the world’s first smart earring that provides activity tracking, heart rate and calorie monitoring, while offering a fashionable appearance.
Ear-O-Smart is looking to raise $50,000 on Kickstarter with single unit going for $125 CAD.By embedding electronics into an accessory designed to worn every day without getting in the way, Ear-O-Smart delivers a “smart way to track health electronically,” while expanding the reach of such devices to a wider audience who may not like wearing bands.
As that’s usually the case, the setup includes both the device and an accompanying mobile app, which will be available for iOS and Android devices, making all the data gathered easily accessible while on the go.
Worknosis doesn’t have all the money to put Ear-O-Smart into production, so it’s turning to Kickstarter to help fund the process. Right now, the device is looking to raise $50,000 with single unit going for $125 CAD.
If everything goes as planned, in March 2015, Ear-O-Smart will apply for IC/FCC certifications for improved and rigorously tested design. Then, in June 2015, the device will be shipped to backers.
