Withings unveiled a new smartwatch called Activite Pop, which is actually a more affordable version of its flagship device, Withings Activite.
Available in three different colors — including Azure, Shark Grey and Sand — the watch will retail for about $150 rather than $450, which is the price of the “regular” Activite smart watch.
Users can expect up to 8 hours of operation with a single standard watch battery.The lower price means you shouldn’t expect fancy materials; those opting to get one of these will get a PVD-coated watchcase along with the smooth silicone strap.
Two dials remain in place, one showing the current time and the other – percentage progress of specific activity goals, as defined within the Withings app. The built-in sensors will track both activity and sleep, and beam that information to a connected smartphone.
“The activity tracker category has a huge problem with abandonment, and so consumers don’t really get to see the benefit of long-term data and the impact it can have on their health,” said Withings CEO Cédric Hutchings. “It is time wearables step up to what they claim to be!”
When it comes to the battery life, users can expect up to 8 hours of operation with a single standard watch battery. The device is also water resistant up to 30 meters.
The Withings Activite Pop is now available in limited quantities at bestbuy.com for $149.95. It will hit Best Buy stores across the U.S. and online in March 2015.
