Microsoft has updated its Xbox Fitness service so that it can sync with the newly announced Microsoft Health platform, providing users with access to all of their activities and health information from a single dashboard. These activities will include users’ runs, walks and other exercise types that can be tracked with (also newly announced) Microsoft Band. The idea is to make every step count, whether we’re talking about exercising in a gym or in the park, or working out at home with Xbox Fitness.
The new feature comes as part of the update to the Xbox One app, and in order to take advantage of it, users will have to set up a Microsoft Health account.
Speaking of Microsoft Health, its international expansion is planned for next month, with Microsoft hoping to fight already established players such as Google, Apple as well as few fitness tracking device makers like Fitbit and Jawbone which have their own platforms.
