These are the Google Fit Developer Challenge winners

Google Fit

Google unveiled the list of 12 grand prize winners of the Google Fit Developer Challenge. The list includes the following apps:

  • 7MinGym – which lets users practice 7 minute workouts at home, while playing music from their favorite music app and casting the workout to Chromecast or Android TV.
  • Aqualert – reminds users to stay hydrated throughout the day and lets them track their water intake.
  • Cinch Weight Loss and Fitness – provides detailed information on steps taken and calories burned. It also supports heart-rate tracking with compatible Android Wear devices.
  • FitHub – fitness activity from multiple accounts and multiple wearable devices, including Android Wear. There’s an option to add friends to compare progress against each other.
  • FitSquad – turns fitness into a competition, by allowing friends to form a squad to compare progress, track achievements and cheer each other on.
  • Instant – Quantified Self – a lifestyle app that goes beyond physical activity tracking to include digital activity to the mix. It can tell users how much they’re using the phone and apps, with the ability to set usage limits and reminders.
  • Jump Rope Wear Counter – allows users to count their jump rope skips with an Android Wear device.
  • Move it! – handy app that reminds users to get up and move about if they haven’t been active in the last hour.
  • Openrider – GPS Cycling Riding – provides tracking and mapping of cycle routes.
  • Running Buddies – enables runners to share their runs and stats with those around them so that they can find other runners similar to themselves to go running with.
  • Strength – a workout tracking app that supports different routines, so that users can get to their workout quickly and track it without manual data entry. Schedules and rest timers come included, as well.
  • Walkholic – provides another way to see Google Fit walking, cycling and running data. It supports notifications if preset goals aren’t met.

Both the grand prize winners and the runner ups will be receiving some great devices from Google’s challenge partners to help with their ongoing fitness app development: the X_CELL and SPEED_CELL from adidas, a new Android Wear device, a Loop activity tracker with a H7 heart rate sensor from Polar, and a Smart Body Analyzer from Withings.
