The Autonomous Desk from Robotbase is the latest entrant to the smart desk market. These sort of products, as you may know, are designed to help us sit less and stand more. The most well-known such desk is made by Stir, but it is too expansive for regular users (although some Sillicon Valey companies can’t live without them).
In contrast, The Autonomous Desk is more affordable with its price starting at $399 (early bird) at Kickstarter. That unit comes with a Memory Pad which remembers up to 4 different heights, and with a tap of the button – it will move to the preferred height.
That’s not smart enough for you? Prepare to pour out $499 for the Deluxe model that adds wireless charging pad, USB charger, HD speaker, and bag & key hangers to the mix. Still not enough? There’s the Smart model that works with a companion app to track calories and stuff like than, dedicated app store, and even a voice activated personal assistant. Beyond speaking to the table, the Smart Autonomous Desk will also be able to communicate with other smart devices, such as Nest thermostat and Lifx or Philips Hue light bulbs.
The 52-by-28-inch desk has a maximum height of 49 inches and a minimum height of 23.5 inches, and comes in either oak or walnut. Robotbase plans to have all the desks shipped by September, but the actual shipment part is tricky a bit. Because these are huge 120-pound desks, sending them overseas costs a small fortune – $299. Even if you’re in the U.S. you’ll have to ponny up $99 to get the Autonomous Desk delivered to your door.
