The Cleveland Clinic is launching a new telehealth service in Ohio. Called MyCare Online, it offers virtual visits with a doctor for $49 per care intervention. The service — which connects patients with a physician or nurse via smartphones, tablets and PCs — helps users dealing with minor health issues such as rashes, the cold or the flu.
Developed in partnership with American Well, MyCare Online also provides patient services like counseling and nutritional guidance, with pharmacist consultations coming in at a later date. Moreover, at some point Cleveland Clinic hopes to have the service available to patients on a 24/7 basis.
A year ago, Cleveland Clinic launched its first virtual medical service, HealthSpot, which deploys walk-in kiosks at health centers and grocery locations.
In May, American Well announced its newest venture, Telehealth 2.0, with the goal to put telehealth services in physicians’ pockets. The company’s companion app is designed to help patients with chronic conditions, allowing physicians to reach their customers at home.
