Google Fit has signed additional partners to add new features to the mix.
First, we’ve got new metrics that should help users get a slightly improved picture of their activities: distance traveled per day and calories burned per day.
Then, we’ve got nutrition data from new partners who implemented the Google Fit SDK into their apps, including LifeSum, Lose It!, and MyFitnessPal. Sleep activity has also been expanded thanks to Basis Peak and Sleep as Android. And, there are new workout sessions and activity data from even more apps and fitness wearables. The updated list now includes Endomondo, Garmin, the Daily Burn, the Basis Peak and the Xiaomi miBand, all of which will allow users to store their workout sessions and activity data in Google’s platform.
On the other hand, few apps are using data from Google Fit to improve user experience: LifeSum, and Lose It! are reading all day activity to help users keep track of their physical activity in their favorite fitness app; Runkeeper now shows a Google Now card to its users encouraging them to “work off” their meals, based on their meals written to Google Fit by other apps; while Instaweather has integrated Google Fit into a new Android Wear face that they’re testing in beta…
