ŌURA smart ring available for pre-order for $199 through Kickstarter

ŌURA smart ring

The ŌURA ring is a novel product made to help users get more restful sleep and perform better.

Touted as the “ring-size wellness computer,” it sits on a finger measuring wearer’s pulse waveform, the exact time between heart beats while calculating parameters like heart rate, respiration rate and their variation over time. Moreover, ŌURA also measures all movement very sensitively and indicates changes in body temperature. It does all this in unprecedented convenience, approaching “laboratory-level accuracy,” according to Ōura’s Chief Scientific Officer, Hannu Kinnunen.

The ŌURA app delivers recommendations about best times to go to sleep and to wake up, best training times and intensities, and best days to push harder, or rest a little. The ŌURA ring works with the ŌURA app that provides users with actionable recommendations on how they can improve their sleep and adjust daily activity towards better balance and performance. With ŌURA, users can learn how their activity and lifestyle choices affect their sleep, and how the quality of their sleep affects their ability to perform during the day.

The ŌURA app delivers recommendations about best times to go to sleep and to wake up, best training times and intensities, and best days to push harder, or rest a little. This allows people to balance their lives, putting them better in sync with their natural body rhythms.

“The ŌURA ring is the first device to connect the dots between sleep, activity, lifestyle choices and performance, showing you how they all affect each other 24/7,” says Petteri Lahtela, CEO, Ōura. “The personal recommendations it gives can significantly increase your wellbeing and performance.”

Developed in Oulu, Finland by a world-class team that has collectively built high-tech consumer products loved by millions of people around the world, ŌURA is made out of a comfortable, non-allergenic material. It is also an incredibly durable product, resistant to scratches and water (up to 50m). The built-in battery lasts up to 3 days, and charging takes less than 60 minutes with the included Ring Box charger.

The ŌURA ring is now up for pre-order for $199 through crowdfunding site Kickstarter. It is set to ship in November, and once it hits the retail, the ring will sell for $100 more ($299).
