Wearable personal posture coach raising funds at Kickstarter

Alex - personal posture coach

Alex is a light, posture tracking wearable that looks like a pair of neckband-style sports headphones, with the two squeezable and stretchable legs sitting on the outside of the ear. Inside, it packs sensors that can detect the position of the head and neck to identify bad posture, and act accordingly — by vibrating to remind users to stop the slouching.

The setup, naturally, includes a companion mobile app — available for iOS and Android phones — from where users can set time windows when they’d like posture to be good. Also from here, they can customize the frequency and intensity of said alerts.

The device itself can store up to 4 weeks of posture data, while the rest goes to the cloud, and can be easily accessed, again, from the mobile app.

According to Alex creators, users can get up to 7 days of posture tracking on a single charge, after which it will take about 2 hours to fully rejuice the battery.

The Alex wearable can be pre-ordered from Kickstarter for $59, with shipments starting in May.

Other posture tracking devices we’ve covered include Prana, UpRight, Lumo Lift and TruPosture smart shirt.
