Zocdoc gets a new logo, website and color scheme

Zocdoc logo

Zocdoc is rebranding itself, replacing what they say is an $80 logo from 2007 with something more serious, yet more modern and more friendly to patients. Also, the color palette is new, and now the dominant color is “optimistic yellow.” And the same goes for the website, which has been revamped to make it easier to find a doctor near you.

“The new face of Zocdoc looks the way healthcare should – friendly, simple and, most of all, reflective of patients and real life,” Zocdoc vice president of marketing Richard Fine said in a statement. “With this redesign, we are finally matching our design philosophy with the ethos of our brand.”

The logo even has a name — it’s called Zee — representing a line drawing of a “dynamic letter Z” and two eyes that evokes an “always-changing patient face.” In resting pose, Zee is friendly and warm, but it can also be cheeky (with a smile and a wink), feel meh (with a zigzag mouth and downturned eyes), or puzzled (with an S-shaped mouth and open eyes). It has been designed with the help of creative consultancy Wolff Olins.

While the new logo is cool, Zocdoc had some tough times in the past with one former employee claiming that the company fostered a work environment that was generally accepting of sexual harassment against women. Nevertheless, Zocdoc found its way around this issue and is currently worth well more than $1 billion, making it a member of the unicorn club. And they still have a lot of room to grow both in the U.S. where they server 60 percent of the population, and eventually – other parts of the world.

“Our [new] image reflects our vision and is a powerful outward signal of the role we play for patients as a center of care,” Zocdoc founder and CEO Oliver Kharraz said in a statement.
