ResearchKit app developer offers its expertise to other companies

Lifemap Solutions

LifeMap Solutions, a subsidiary of BioTime and co-developer of ResearchKit-enabled app Asthma Health, is launching a service to help other companies develop smartphone apps and research studies.

The company will offer its deep expertise in medical science, consumer behavior, app analytics, and design. Also, the client’s own unique expertise will be added to the mix with app development guidance provided from concept to completion.

For its ResearchKit app, LifeMap has worked closely with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Stanford University School of Medicine, the Mount Sinai – National Jewish Health Respiratory Institute, and 23andMe.

“Research institutions, hospitals, and multinational pharmaceutical companies have asked us to help them. They’ve expressed a strong interest in breaking out of the ‘bricks and mortar’ constraints of traditional research studies and care tools,” Corey Bridges, CEO of LifeMap Solutions, said in a statement. “For research studies in particular, the benefits of using mHealth best practices are extremely compelling: recruiting thousands of study participants nationally or even internationally, obtaining consent through the friendly interface of the iPhone, and passively collecting participants’ health information.”

In building research apps, LifeMap’s new app design and creation service follows a simple five-step process: Plan, Review, Build, Launch and Publish. The last mentioned step is designed to utilize the data to further research and transform findings into scientific articles and peer-reviewed publications with a team of highly skilled data scientists.
