When the Google Fit platform was announced, we saw Adidas’ logo on the list. The sports equipment giant is apparently working to release a new smart band that would sing along Google’s platform.
According to leaks at the FCC, LegalForce and retailer Keller Sports – the upcoming Adidas miCoach Fit Smart looks like a hybrid of Nike’s FuelBand and Adidas’ own miCoach Smart Run, with an LED dot display rather than color LCD screen. However, the device retains a more watch-like profile with a new, quick-locking band of some kind.
It is said that the Fit Smart will be able to monitor your heart, along with steps taken, distance travelled and calories burned. The FCC page shows it will be Bluetooth 4.0 compatible, enabling communication with your mobile device.
At the moment we’ve no ideas when Adidas will officially announce the new smart band, but chances are this will be a short wait. Meanwhile, we can’t help but feel Nike is somehow scaling back its involvement in this market despite launching a long overdue Android app for the FuelBand.
