MonBaby is a new baby monitoring system that consists from a small wireless device that snaps onto any article of a child’s clothing and an accompanying mobile app, available for iOS and Android devices. Made by the company called MonDevices, it’s made to track baby’s breathing rate, movement level and sleep position, transmitting vital signs and important alerts to the connected smartphone to improve sleep and peace of mind for parents.

MonBaby contains a MEMS 14bit accelerometer that measures breathing motion, body orientation and activity level.The application can send an alert parents every time baby rolls onto its stomach so they can quickly respond if needed. Similar alerts can be created for breathing, restless sleep and other conditions parents are concerned about.

The device contains a MEMS 14bit accelerometer that measures breathing motion, body orientation and activity level. In addition, it also has a Bluetooth LE chip and 3V coin-cell CR2032 battery that lasts for up to five weeks in active mode or up to a year in passive mode. The antenna range is 50-200 feet, depending on interferences.

MonDevices wants to make lives easier for parents to provide them with the tool for immediate response in dangerous conditions. The device is currently raising funds at Kickstarter with the goal to hit the $15,000 mark. A single unit goes for $89.
