A company called Groking Lab is launching the Ozmo Smart Cup that works with a companion app to keep users properly hydrated.
Available through a Kickstarter campaign looking to raise $25,000, the product tracks one’s daily water and coffee drinking, providing simple prompts along the way to encourage action for meeting personal daily goals for hydration and avoiding excessive caffeine.
The leak-proof Ozmo Smart Cup, which is made from BPA-free Tritan Plastic and can hold 16 ounces of liquid, will run up to four weeks on a single charge. The leak-proof Ozmo Smart Cup, which is made from BPA-free Tritan Plastic and can hold 16 ounces of liquid, will run up to four weeks on a single charge. The companion app on its end allows users to customize the information to their own body specs, activity and goals. It can work with or without the cup, and will initially be available for iPhone users (with Android version likely to follow at a later date).
First 200 supporters who pledge $60 or more will be rewarded with the “Ozmo Active” Early Bird Special and get their cup before the 2015 winter holidays. Moreover, users have the option to support the Water Collective by pledging $65 or more; this extra money will be used by the non-profit organization as it collaborates with African communities for water independence and clean water initiatives.
And if the Kickstarter raises more than $50,000, the company will start the “Ozmo Java+” tooling, which adds a built-in heater to the mix to keep one’s coffee at the optimal temperature while also tracking consumption. The original Ozmo Smart Cup “Ozmo Active” is anticipated to be available for consumer purchase in November 2015.
Finally, it’s worth adding that Ozmo Smart Cup is not the first device to help users hydrate properly. There are also 8Cups, Trago, BluFit smart water bottle, The Hug, as well as the Vessyl smart cup that can also do some other tricks.
